What Cary and Apex do to a window

Cary and Apex were built out from the 1980s on, mostly as planned communities with a golf course in the middle and the loblolly pines left standing along the lot lines. Preston, MacGregor Downs, Lochmere and Regency Park in Cary and Bella Casa, Haddon Hall and Scotts Mill in Apex all look that way, and it shapes what lands on the glass. The pines let go in late March and April, and because they are everywhere the pollen keeps coming for weeks. It lies thick on the south-facing glass, cakes on sills and screens, and washes into the tracks with the spring rain. Under the pines and the oaks mixed in with them the north glass stays shaded and damp, and a green film builds by August.

Irrigation is the constant. Nearly every lot in Preston, Amberly, Weston and the newer Apex sections has a sprinkler system that runs every morning from May through September, and the fairways at Prestonwood Country Club, MacGregor Downs Country Club and Lochmere Golf Club are watered on top of that. The overspray hits the same lower panes every day and leaves hard mineral spots that build month over month. West Cary and Apex are still growing fast, and the red clay dust from graded lots along Davis Drive, Green Level Church Road and Highway 55 settles on glass across whole neighborhoods. In October and November the oaks and sweetgums drop into the gutters over about six weeks.

A quarterly plan suits most Cary and Apex homes, with the inside glass done once a year, and most customers add a visit right after the April pollen. Fairway homes at Preston, MacGregor Downs and Lochmere often go to every two months through the irrigation season to keep the spots from setting. These houses run to two-story foyers, great-room glass and third-floor dormers, and we clean them with water-fed poles from the ground and ladders where needed. We know the gate procedures where there is a gate, work the whole street in one pass, and send a text the morning of each visit so nobody has to wait at home.

Cary and Apex window cleaning questions

How much does window cleaning cost in Cary and Apex?

First-clean pricing varies by home size and service package. A first cleaning, inside and out, is $259 for a home up to 2,000 square feet, $329 for 2,000 to 3,500 square feet, and $429 for larger homes on our Silver package. After that, a quarterly maintenance plan runs $60, $77, or $100 a month for those same home sizes. Lakefront and estate homes get a custom quote.

How often should windows be cleaned in Cary and Apex?

Quarterly keeps the pollen, shade mildew and clay dust under control for most Cary and Apex homes, with the spring visit timed for right after the pine pollen. Fairway homes at Preston, MacGregor Downs and Lochmere often go to every two months from May through September because of the irrigation. Most people have the inside glass done once a year.

Can you remove the sprinkler spots on the golf-course side of the house?

In most cases, yes. Irrigation overspray from the fairways at Prestonwood, MacGregor Downs and Lochmere, and from the lot sprinklers that hit the same lower panes every morning, leaves mineral spots that a regular clean will not take off. Point them out on the quote form and we will assess them on the first visit and tell you what a dedicated treatment will remove.

Can you clean two-story foyer and great-room glass?

Yes. Most Cary and Apex homes built since 1990 have a two-story window over the front door or a wall of glass at the back, and we clean both with water-fed poles from the ground and ladders where needed. On the inside we reach the high panes with extension poles so nothing has to be moved. Tell us about the tall glass on the quote form.
